Galveston County, Texas (KTRK) – Police and volunteers with Texas Equuseearch carry out a search for possible human remains in connection with a cold case from 1983.
The search takes place in a house in Pine Street near Santa Fe in Galveston County.
Lt. Greg Boody from the Santa Fe police authority said that officials and volunteers have been in the house since Thursday.
“Our detective works a cold case from the early 80s and he follows Leads and we are looking for a missing person here,” said Boody at the scene.
“And is it related to the Sondra Ramber case?” ABC13 reporter Jessica Willey.
“I can't confirm that because we don't know. We hope. We hope, but it's not sure,” he replied.
Sondra Kay Ramber was 14 years old when she was missing on October 26, 1983. She was most recently seen by a family member in her kitchen. When her father came back that afternoon, biscuits were still in the oven, according to the national center for missing and exploited children (NCMEC), but Sondra was not there. She was never found.
Last year, NCMEC published an age -progression photo of Sondra what it could look like more than 40 years later.
The location of the search is on the same property where Sondra once lived. Eyewitness News has confirmed, although the house that is now there has been built since its disappearance.
The current real estate owners are cooperative and even help, said Boody.
“We cut out the concrete and dig out the plate to see what is underneath. Tim Miller (Texas Equusarch) brought a person with cross -floor radar and recorded some anomalies, and that is what we see to see what it is,” he said.
The crime scene band surrounded the property until Thursday evening, and the police said they were ready to be there for many hours, depending on what they found.
