A top Las Vegas lawyer was among the two people shot dead at a law firm on Monday.

Robert Eglet, Prince's former law partner, described him as “one of the best trial lawyers in the state.”

“It’s a real loss for the community,” Eglet told the Las Vegas Review Journal. 'It's terrible. It is a loss for our profession.

“It's every family's nightmare when something like this happens. “I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that this actually happened.”

Prince represented his wife in the custody case. Sources identified the shooter as Robert Houston, another attorney and the father of Ashley's ex-husband. Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the shooting happened around 10 a.m. in the company's fifth-floor offices.

The shooting prompted hundreds more people inside the building to seek shelter. They were later evacuated by police officers. Shots were reportedly fired during the statement, with Houston later turning the gun on himself. Prince's former lawyer described him as “one of the best trial lawyers in the state.”

As the bullets flew, hundreds of other residents sought shelter. Officials later crossed the building and safely evacuated them.

“As you can imagine, we have a five- or six-story building,” McMahill told KLAS.

“We have people hunkering down and following active shooter protocols. “We're going door to door, making sure everyone in there is OK and evacuating them.”

A family reunion area has been set up on the fifth floor of Red Rock Resort, next to the office.

According to a biography on the law firm's website, Prince was a founding member and lead litigator on all major cases.
