PULWAMA, January 13th: In a new step to introduce accountability and transparency into the system, the Pulwama District Administration, under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Raghav Langer, GPS tracking devices in all vehicles of the community committees except geo-marking of collection and landfill sites to ensure strict vigilance when moving these vehicles.
The county government installs the tracking devices in all vehicles including trucks, dump trucks, JCBs, hoppers, etc., which are available from the Pulwama Town Council offices and Pampore, Awantipora, Khrew and Tral Township Committees
This step was initiated by the district administration after the city councils raised the problem of overloading and manipulating bills by the affected community committees and the community council.
The GPS tracking devices would help track the movement of the vehicle in addition to the built-in odometer to calibrate the actual distance traveled by the vehicle.
The Android-based app, hosted in the cloud, offers the ability to track the live location of the vehicles so that all executives can see the actual location of the vehicles, the distance the vehicle has traveled in the last fifteen days, speed monitoring and path tracking this checks the fake billing and excessive consumption of POL.
The district administration intends to use GPS tracking devices to improve the mechanisms at ground level and make the collection of waste from the mentioned cities of the district to the identified landfills more efficient.
80 permanent garbage disposal sites have now been identified in the district, and such measures are intended to reduce the constant complaints about improper and overflowing lifting by municipal vehicles.
