Rekha flags of 1,111 water tankers with GPS tracking | Delhi News

Neu -Delhi: The Prime Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, introduced 1,111 water tankers on Sunday, which are equipped with location monitoring systems to improve sales in the city in the summer months.
The Delhi Jal Board headquarters follows the tankers with an IT dashboard.
At an event in Burari, Guppa said: “This is a step towards complete transparency. This is not the final solution. We will work on a new city map to provide water from the tap to every resident.”
Water Minister Parvesh Verma and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa took part in the event, accompanied by BJP MPs and Mlas.
The financial budget of Delhi Govt 2025-26 has set 9,000 rupees for water-related initiatives aside. According to the Gupta, this allocation includes various projects, including smart measurement installations, restoring the water body, pipeline infrastructure and drainage outputs. “We used 50 Super Sucker machines all over the city to deal with the overflow of wastewater. The previous government only procured two such machines,” she added.
The city government also works on the increase in the capacity of sewage treatment plants and water treatment plants. Verma said: “This is a model for good government and transparency. Some of these tankers are old, but all of these are equipped with GPS. People can pursue the location of the tanker on their mobile phones, as we do for apps with food delivery.”
“What the AAP-DA Sarkar could not do in so many years, we did it in 10 weeks. The drains are cleaned, tons of mud are clarified. We work every day on public holidays, festivals,” he added and referred to the previous AAP dispensation.
The Prime Minister said that strict measures were taken against the “Tanker Mafia”, since all 1,111 tankers are now monitored 24×7 by a central control room. With the mobile phone app from Delhi Jal Board, people can pursue the tankers, submit symptoms and monitor the resolution process, she said. She also assured that regions that are currently getting drinking water through pipeline systems without losing water will soon be preserved.
Guppa made it clear that in areas that do not receive waterwater will soon be secured, and a comprehensive layout plan based on the principles of urban planning is willing to expand the pipe water network. She said that the water supply was disorganized due to the apathy of the previous government, with the 'Tanker Mafia' tightening its grip over the system.
Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, MP from Süd -Delhi, said that steps to implement agreements with neighboring countries should be taken to give Delhi a permanent relief from the water crisis.
AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj said: “BJP Govt and the CM are misleading people.” He said that tankers were even equipped with GPS in 2015. “When I became the deputy chairman of DJB in 2022, tankers were equipped with GPS,” he said.
