First responders found the body of a kayaker who went missing earlier this week in a Connecticut reservoir on Sunday.
According to Wolcott Police, members of the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department recovered Dave Bourassa's body around 7 a.m. Sunday.
Rescue crews responded to Scovill Reservoir at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday after a kayaker was reported missing, police said.
Police and the Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department rescue team were able to locate the kayak, but the missing person could not be found immediately.
According to police, the Region 5 dive team and a search dog assisted in the search. Rescue workers also used a drone to search for the kayaker.
In a Facebook post Sunday, Wolcott police said rescuers “have been working tirelessly since Wednesday to first rescue and then recover Mr. Bourassa.”
According to police, Bourassa was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's office in Farmington, Connecticut.
“This is a sad ending and our condolences go out to the Bourassa family,” the police post said on Sunday. “Thank you to all the first responders who helped with this operation.”
