As Real Houseewives of Beverly Hills star Erika “Jayne” Girardi once said, “Everyone needs a little Erika Jayne in their life.” Well, actually, maybe everyone except Tom Girardi.
In the early hours of December 19, 2020, news spread on social media that Erika Jayne had posted and deleted suspected text messages and photos of her husband to and from an alleged lover. Jayne called the mistress a judge Tricia A. Bigelow.
And according to a report by People, the reason Jayne is seeking a divorce isn’t because of Girardi’s legal troubles, but because he allegedly cheated on her. A source close to the couple recently told People, “The reason she divorced Tom is because he cheated on her with several women.” According to the source, Jayne “knew about his infidelity for years” but worked to “save” her marriage.
“When she performed them on Broadway last week, he left them up and dry and bustling around town instead of supporting them and attending their shows,” the source told People. “She realized that she would never be a priority for him and that was her breaking point.”
The source went on to insist that it wasn’t the current lawsuits that sparked the couple’s divorce. “The separation took a long time. The lawsuit only coincided with her decision to leave him, ”the source said.
The Girardi were accused of embezzling money
The Girardi have been sued several times recently. Earlier this month they were accused of embezzling money. According to E !, Edelson PC, an Illinois-based law firm, is suing the couple for alleged embezzlement of funds from a settlement fund for relatives of the Lion Air plane crash in October 2018. The flight crashed into the Java Sea, killing all 189 passengers on board .
Since they were accused, Girardi and his law firm Girardi & Keese have frozen their assets and are being held in civil contempt, according to People. Girardi was also recently sued by legal partner Robert Keese and his business associates for alleging Girardi never paid them their share of the money he owed them from their partnership.
Erika Jayne announced their divorce in November
In November 2020, Jayne announced her divorce from Tom Girardi. “After much deliberation, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi,” Girardi told E! News of November 3rd. “This is not a frivolous or easy step. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the life we have built together. “
Girardi continued, “It is my absolute desire to continue this process with the respect and privacy that both Tom and I deserve. I ask others to give us this privacy too. “
Some Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans found Jayne’s divorce notice shocking, as she always defended her marriage while on the show. “I’m tired of having to justify my 20 year marriage. Get a 20 year marriage and then talk to me, ”Jayne said, according to Us Weekly, during the show’s tenth season. “It’s great to have financial support. But having someone’s emotional support is something I wish I had grown up more of. “
