A man from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested today in Gulfport, Miss., On custody of children in Alabama, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Chef Chuck Brooks said in a press release that 58-year-old Bruice Jyrome Jonson, of San Antonio, is facing charges of custody disorder.
Brooks said at around 9:38 a.m. the APD received an 911 call in response to a male suspect who abducted two children from a woman at a gas station on Jack Springs Road and Interstate 65.
“Atmore police arrived on site and met with the caller who identified himself as the mother of the children,” Brooks said in a press release. “The woman said the kidnapper was her husband. The woman said the couple are currently separated. The woman said she left Texas with the children today to move to Alabama. The woman stated that the children were 16 and 3 years old. “
Brooks said the woman drove to the gas station to refuel her truck and the kids went to the store.
“She said minutes later the kids would leave the shop and get into the man’s vehicle,” he said. “The woman said the husband drove a gray Toyota Camry in 2003. The woman said the younger child was the man’s birth child, but the other was not. The woman told APD officials that the man had no parental rights over the other child. The woman also said she did not feel that the children were in danger but wanted the children to be back in her care. “
Brooks said that after Jonson was arrested today, the children were found safe and unharmed.
