Saudi Arabia's Taradi platform resolves 117,000 marriage, divorce, maintenance and real estate disputes in 2023
Dubai: Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in dispute resolution with the launch of an innovative government platform called “Taradi”, which aims to resolve family, commercial and social disputes outside the court system.
Official statistics show that reconciliation meetings conducted through this electronic platform are widely used, underscoring the Kingdom's commitment to modernizing and streamlining conflict resolution methods.
In 2023, “Taradi” successfully conducted over 117,000 reconciliation sessions, an impressive average of 320 documents issued daily, or 13 per hour.
This efficiency means that, on average, a dispute is resolved amicably about every five minutes across the Kingdom, underscoring the effectiveness of the platform and societal acceptance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The Ministry of Justice, the oversight body of the “Taradi” platform, reported that over 735,000 reconciliation sessions took place last year, of which 117,000 resulted in successful resolutions.
The platform addresses a wide range of disputes ranging from personal status issues such as marriage, divorce, maintenance and custody to commercial and financial disagreements such as real estate disputes, business disputes, loans and debts between individuals. It also extends to intellectual property and traffic disputes, demonstrating the broad applicability of the service.
Reconciliation documents issued by the Platform serve as legally binding agreements, enforceable in court in the event of non-compliance by either party. This innovative approach provides a rapid and effective means of dispute resolution and contributes to the country's broader vision of social harmony and economic stability.
