Search party for missing man, former Albany city commissioner

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – A search party is being held for former City Commissioner Kenderson Hill, who went missing on Saturday, August 30th.

Hill was last seen leaving his apartment around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. Later that day, the Albany Police Department (APD) determined that Hill was a “critically missing person.”

The search party began on Monday, September 2nd at 9:30 a.m. for the 64-year-old.

About 20 family members and friends set out to find Hill. They split up, some going door to door while others put up leaflets.

The Albany Police Department (APD) Criminal Investigation Division was also in the area on four-wheelers. APD searched the wooded areas and riverbank.

Hill served as Albany city commissioner from 1995 to 2000. Even after leaving office, he remained heavily involved in the Albany community. The family says they will continue to search for Kenderson every day until he is found. His sister Gwendolyn is grateful for the community's support.

“First of all, thank you for your prayers. Thank you to everyone who came to the search party today. Thank you to the police here, especially the police chief, who encouraged the police officers to do a great job. I just want to thank everyone, but especially for the prayers,” she said.

The family told WALB they will search every day until he is found.

According to police, Hill was last seen wearing a beige hat, black jacket, black shirt and black mules.

APD's lead investigator will hold a press conference on Hill's disappearance at 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 at the police station.
