Shannen Doherty claims her ex Kurt Iswarienko 'hopes she dies' so he doesn't have to pay her child support after cancer diagnosis

SHANNEN Doherty, known as Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills 90210, claimed that her ex-husband delayed the divorce.

The actress said her ex, Kurt Iswarienko, is delaying paying court-ordered spousal support and is hoping for her death before he meets his financial obligations.

While Shannen, 53, is hoping for spousal support as her cancer has progressed incurably in recent years, she believes her ex is “waiting and seeing.”

The two were married for 11 years before the “Charmed” actress filed for divorce in April 2023.

Court documents obtained by People reveal that the actress was frustrated at not receiving a significant portion of the financial information she requested about Kurt's original photo archive.

“It is simply not right that Kurt is allowed to delay our divorce in the hope that I will die before he has to pay me the money, while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she said in the documents.

Kurt's attorney responded to Shannen's claims, saying she rejected a settlement offered to her months after the divorce.

“Kurt is not ‘just wait[ing] “I said Shannen should die,” said attorney Katherine Heersema.

“He wants the best for Shannen and he wants them both to be able to put this case behind them and move on.”

The podcast host also claimed she rejected proposed settlements because she and Kurt “avoided the themes of his original works created during their marriage.”

Shannen demanded $15,434 per month in spousal support from Kurt and admitted that she would soon lose her SAG health insurance.

She also noticed that her remaining checks from her time on Charmed were getting smaller and smaller.

The file also stated that the photographer spent his money on extravagant things, such as luxury trips and designer items.

“Kurt used the plane and spent thousands of dollars on medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and flights… all while claiming he didn't have enough money to support me,” Shannen explained.

Shannen Doherty's fight against cancer

  • In 2015, Shannen announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone chemotherapy, radiation, a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
  • Two years later, the actress said her disease was in remission.
  • In 2020, Shannen announced that her cancer had returned at stage 4.
  • In early 2023, Shannen underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her head after the cancer spread to her brain.
  • In November 2023, the actress announced that the cancer had spread to her bones.

Kurt's average annual income over the past three years was $672,916, leaving her with about $56,076 per month to cover spousal support, according to Shannen's lawyers.

Similar calculations showed that Shannen's annual income was $259,708.

However, there is a significant decline for 2024, as she has only earned just over $25,000 so far this year.

Shannen now has to pay approximately $160,000 in legal fees and has asked her ex for $130,000 for future expenses and $10,000 to cover her current legal fees.

CANCER UPDATE

In 2015, the “90210” actress announced that she had terminal breast cancer.

She had previously gone into remission after a mastectomy and chemotherapy, but the cancer returned sometime in 2019.

In early 2023, she learned that the cancer had spread to her brain, so she underwent radiation therapy.

Earlier this year, she made an emotional confession, revealing that she had begun selling some of her belongings to make life easier for her mother in case she died first.

“It feels like you’re giving up something that was very important and special to you,” Shannen said.

“But you know it’s the right thing to do and it will give you a sense of peace and calm.

“Because you provide a cleaner, easier transition for the people you leave behind.”
