GPS Smartsole
Vigil Health Solutions has announced the availability of new shoes to help prevent residents from getting lost.
The GPS SmartSole, made in collaboration with GTX Corp., features an “easy-to-use” two-way GPS tracking device in the sole. It uses cellular networks, sends notifications to users and is ideal for residents who can go outside but are at risk of getting lost or disorientated.
Using the Vigil Integrated Care Management System, the tracking devices are carefully hidden to reduce stigma and preserve the dignity of wearers. According to the company, based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, most wearers are unaware of their presence in the shoe.
