“Skiptrace” by Jackie Chan lands at Bloom and gains Shanghai New Media as a supporter

Shanghai New Media Culture has signed on as co-financier of the Jackie Chan action-adventure vehicle “Skiptrace,” now in production.

At AFM, Alex Walton's new outfit will take care of international sales, which was previously represented by Exclusive Media.

The story follows a Hong Kong detective and a fast-talking American gamer on a large-scale chase across China on the trail of a gangster who has kidnapped the police officer's niece. Chan and Fan Bingbing (“Iron Man 3”) as the niece have remained constants in the production’s many previous incarnations.

British director Sam Fell was previously slated to direct. These now fall to Renny Harlin (“Die Hard 2”, “Cliffhanger”). Production began on September 1st.

Johnny Knoxville (Jackass, Bad Grandpa) now plays the loud-mouthed American, a role previously slated to be played by Seann William Scott.

With the arrival of SNC, the film will now be produced and financed by Talent International Film Company and Dasym Media (formerly Cyrte Investments). SNC owns all rights outside of China and sells the US rights. Bloom takes care of international sales on behalf of SNC.

SNC's Yang Zhenhua and Liu Xiaolin will join as executive producers, while SNC's Gao Qun and Xing Xing's Wang Lifeng will serve as co-executive producers.

The film was conceived by Chan and written by Jay Longino. Revisions are by Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, Geoff Moore and David Posmentier, Ben David Grabinski, Jack Donaldson and Derek Elliott, Rodney Rothman and Jordan Rubin.
