Directed by Renny Harlin, the film centers on a Hong Kong detective who teams up with an American gamer to fight a notorious Chinese criminal. Skiptrace also stars Chinese actresses Fan Bingbing and Johnny Knoxville
Detective Bennie Chan (Jackie Chan) has been searching for the infamous crime boss Matador, who he believes to be Victor Wong (Winston Chao), for over a decade. When Bennie's late partner Yung's daughter Samantha (Fan Bingbing) gets into trouble with Wong's crime syndicate, Bennie must track down American fraudster Connor Watts (Johnny Knoxville), who is making his way through Chinese casinos after being banned in America. However, Connor is kidnapped by a Russian boss to answer for his daughter's betrayal. Bennie races against time to get Connor back from Russia to Hong Kong. Connor, who witnessed a murder in China, fears for his life and hesitates. He steals Bennie's passport and burns it. The unlikely pair are forced to take a scenic route and embark on a dangerous adventure from the snow-capped mountains of Mongolia to the windswept dunes of the Gobi Desert, with both Russian and Chinese gangsters hot on their heels. When Connor arrives in China, Bennie has a statement that could potentially lead to Victor Wong's arrest.
