We have just passed the one year anniversary of the first season of Sneakerheads on Netflix and unfortunately, Season 2 has not been confirmed. As the months go by, it seems less and less likely that it will ever come to fruition.
The series arrived on Netflix on September 25, 2021 and came to Netflix after a brief surprise announcement the month before. The series is from Complex Networks, best known for web shows on YouTube and its blog, which, according to SimilarWeb.com, attracts around 10 million visitors a month.
The series is by Jay Longino, who worked on such films as Uncle Drew and Skiptrace. Cast members included Allen Maldonado, Andrew Bachelor, Jearnest Corchado, and Matthew Josten.
Never watched the first season with 6 episodes? What you can expect:
“Devin, a former home sneakerhead, finds himself deep in the hole after falling in love with one of his old friend Bobby’s crazy plans. In order to get their money back, the duo set out on the hunt for the elusive kicks in the game. “
Has Netflix renewed or canceled sneakerheads?
Unfortunately, we still don’t have a word on whether or not sneakerheads are coming back, but as mentioned above, the longer we go with no news, the less likely the show will return for a second season.
Audience ratings were pretty good (it carries a 6.2 on IMDb and a 71% RottenTomatoes audience rating), but the top 10 data could show that the show didn’t quite get the impact it needed to get it bring back.
According to FlixPatrol, the show only stayed in the top 10 for 6 days in the US We have typically found that shows that spend 30 days or more in the top 10 are a safe bet to return.
Another possible bad sign of a makeover is the fact that Allen Maldonado, the main sneakerhead star, can now be seen on a brand new show as part of the main cast. Maldonado plays Rooster Robbins in the Starz series Heels.
We scoured social media for clues about the future and contacted some sources but couldn’t find a definitive answer.
The show can now be considered ghost-canceled (where Netflix or other parties never announce that the show is over) or we could see it miraculously returning. We will see.
