Amid news reports about the custody case between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, the former couple released a statement last week regarding their status following four days of mediation. It is Turner and Jonas’ first public comment since confirming their divorce. Jonas and Turner share two daughters, ages 3 and 1.
“Following a productive and successful placement, we have agreed that the children will spend equal time in loving homes in the US and the UK,” they said. “We look forward to being great co-parents.”
Her comments came after court documents detailing their tentative agreement were released and obtained by People. According to the outlet, Turner and Jonas will take turns caring for their girls for two weeks each.
From October 9th to 21st, Turner has custody and can travel with her daughters anywhere in the United States or to England. Jonas will then receive the children with the same travel permits from October 21st to November 2nd. Jonas will then be on tour with his brothers, which means his daughters will be traveling with him.
Turner will have the children from November 2nd to 22nd, then Jonas from November 22nd to December 16th. Turner will get them for the holidays from December 16th to January 6th. Their agreement also states that by December 23, “the parties jointly…” will file a status report letter on their mediation.
Jonas and Turner will release their children to the other parent in New York City at the end of their custody period.
While Jonas and Turner’s divorce case was widely reported, the stars themselves remained almost silent on the matter.
Before their statement yesterday, Jonas and Turner only spoke out together one other time: when they confirmed their divorce on September 6, the day after Jonas filed for divorce.
They said: “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to end our marriage amicably. There are many speculative stories as to why, but it is truly a shared decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our desire for privacy for ourselves and our children.”
