Actress Sophie Turner is reactivating her divorce proceedings from musician Joe Jonas. Her attorneys have taken legal action in Miami-Dade County, Florida, to advance the divorce case. The former couple still gets along well.
The divorce proceedings were previously paused for mediation aimed at resolving custody disputes privately. “The filing was a legal formality and the couple continues to negotiate an amicable resolution,” a source close to Joe told TMZ.
With Turner's request for a judge to intervene, details of their disagreement could become public knowledge.
A major point of conflict arose when Sophie expressed her desire to relocate the children to England, a move that Joe opposed. The argument escalated and Joe claimed Sophie's moving plans were illegal.
Sophie later dropped the lawsuit, citing child abduction law, and attempted to resolve the custody issue privately with Joe. However, it appears that these negotiations have reached an impasse.
For a while it seemed as if the ideas might actually work. Joe filed for divorce in September, saying the marriage was over. The couple played nice for a while and even said, “After a productive and successful placement, we have agreed that the children will spend equal time in loving homes in the US and the UK.” We look forward to being great co-parents be.”
But the whole “happy co-parenting” thing didn’t last. Now that the divorce proceedings are underway again, who knows what drama will ensue!
Just when the dust seemed to be settling on her divorce, Sophie Turner dropped a bombshell. It emerged that Joe Jonas was allegedly holding onto their children's passports and stopping them from traveling to Sophie's home in England.
Speaking of drama, Sophie hit back with a lawsuit faster than you can say “King in the North!” Ultimately, this unexpected twist in their story seemed to show that no one ever really agrees when it comes to co-parenting.
Apparently, before the divorce fiasco, the two had plans to make England their permanent home. They even sold their Miami mansion! So what's with the sudden change of heart? Is it just messy divorce stuff or is there more to the story?
The temporary custody agreement was reached in New York in October 2023 and remained in effect until January 2024. This agreement included mediation and allowed their children to travel between the United States and the United Kingdom.
Since children live in two countries, the legal situation is an absolute problem. This whole case is a complete cliffhanger – we'll have to wait and see who comes out on top in the end!
