Thiruvananthapuram: In a barbaric incident at Palode in Thiruvananthapuram, a woman attacked her husband with a rock after a verbal fight. Soumya attacked her husband Shiju, 37, and he died from severe beatings he received on his head.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday evening. According to preliminary reports, Soumya suspected Shiju in his phone calls, and the ensuing argument led to the murder.

Shiju returned home from the Middle East just ten days ago. On Tuesday, the couple attended the Sivaratri festival at a temple near their home. When Soumya returned home around 10:30 p.m., she saw Shiju talking to someone on the phone in front of the kitchen. Shiju refused to give up the phone when she asked for it. It is learned that Soumya attacked him from behind after an argument broke out between them.

Shiju died instantly. The two were home alone at the time of the incident. Soumya returned to the temple festival and told relatives that she had killed Shiju. The body was later found in the kitchen with headpieces scattered everywhere.

Soumya, who was taken into custody, could not be questioned because of her indifference. Shiju’s body is transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after an examination procedure.
