Police have started a manhunt for the 32-year-old Zambian woman who is on the run after allegedly dousing her husband with hot cooking oil.
The suspect, identified as Elizabeth Mweete, reportedly doused her husband Alex Muleya39 in hot oil on Tuesday, December 28, at house number 116 on the Kuku compound in Zambia where the couple lived.
It was found that the woman doused her husband with hot oil after overhearing his phone conversation with an unknown caller who she thought the man was having an affair with.
The agency has also appealed to the public to report the suspect’s whereabouts to the nearest police station.
Police spokeswoman Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident in a media release on Wednesday December 29th. The victim suffered severe burns on the back, the left side of the face and the eye and was currently being admitted to the 1st hospital in Chawama.
Meanwhile, a new bridegroom, Comrade Onwe Philip Ogenyi, has died in a motorcycle accident 19 days after his wedding.
The 33-year-old, who recently welcomed his first child, tied the knot with his heartbreaker on November 27 and died on December 16.
He was on his way from the Abakaliki Federal Teaching Hospital (FETHA) Abakaliki, where his wife had given birth to a child in the accident.
