Kota: Hours after the body of a woman, wrapped in plastic bags with her hands tied, was recovered from the Roteda Minor canal at the Railway Colony police station in the city Thursday morning, police arrested the woman’s husband, father-in-law and two brothers. in-laws for her murder.
Kota City SP Sharad Choudhary said the woman who was killed, Shalu Mahawar, 30, had filed for divorce and asked her husband Banti for maintenance for themselves and their two children. The court ordered the husband to pay 1.5 lakh rupees on Monday 31 July.
On Monday morning, while Shalu was preparing tea, Banti, along with his father Pannalal and brothers Dilip and Ravi, brutally murdered the woman by smashing her head with a grindstone (lodhi) and buried her body in a ditch they had dug room of her house, said the SP.
When the corpse began to stink, they packed the corpse in a plastic bag and threw it into the canal in front of their house on Wednesday evening as water was pouring into the canal, the SP said. The couple married in 2015 but have been living separately in the same house for some time, Choudhary said.
When the body was recovered from the canal, Banti initially refused to identify his wife, but under interrogation by police he confessed to killing her along with his father and two brothers, the SP said. The accused will appear in court on Friday, Choudhary added.
