Florida’s Child Support Act, Florida Stat. 61.08, was revised by the Florida legislature. Many opposed the newly enacted law because they feared it could have detrimental effects on women who did not work during their marriage or who worked on a limited basis or in a lower-paying job to focus on child rearing or child support to focus on the other spouse’s career. The new law was signed into law by the governor on June 30, 2023 and went into effect on July 1, 2023.
