Telangana Shocker: Husband Kills Wife With Iron Bar During Bathukamma Celebration Suspecting Infidelity

Hyderabad, September 26: A woman who was playing bathukamma with other women was murdered by her husband who was angry at her relationship with another man. The shocking incident took place in Veerapur in Sangareddy district on Sunday evening.

Bathukamma, the nine-day flower festival, kicked off across Telangana on Sunday. During the festival, women arrange flowers and sing and dance around them. Swapna was playing Bathukamma with other women of the village when her husband Y. Yellareddy attacked her with an iron bar. The woman suffered head injuries and died on the spot.

According to police, Yellareddy had married Swapna’s older sister Manga a few years ago. However, a month after the marriage, Manga committed suicide by setting herself on fire. Gopal Reddy and Yellamma then married their second daughter, Swapna, to Yellareddy. For six years, the couple led a happy married life. They have a daughter and a son. However, they later developed differences and often quarreled.

Swapna had also developed extramarital relationships with another man from the village. When she continued the relationship despite Yellareddy’s warnings, he hatched a plan to eliminate her. On Sunday, while she was playing Bathukamma with other women in the village, he carried out the assassination plot.
