Houston County – “We need to know what happened to him,” said Gisela Mancilla.
Jesus Mancilla Velez has been missing for five years. He was last seen
Gisela is his sister -in -law. In addition to her husband Diego and Jesus two other brothers Leo and Arnuld, the family has asked the public for years to obtain information about the disappearance of Jesus.
“Nothing is the same without him,” said Daisy Mancilla.
Daisy is Jesus niece. She was only 10 years old when he disappeared.
“I was with him the week before he was missing,” she recalled, “it was a Friday. He swimming us.”
Daisy calls her uncle Jesus a second father and remembered when he brought her to her first father-daughter dance.
She says she has changed over the years how she longs for his presence and answers from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“1,826 days have already passed from his disappearance to this day. But the answer is that it is an ongoing investigation, we can't share much with you, but they know something. But of course they don't share us with us,” said Gisela.
Look back: A year later: Warner Robin's husband Jesus Mancilla Velez is still missing
The family believes that the examination after the first year in which Jesus was missing dramatically slowed down. The brothers and sisters say they are much better informed than the GBI special agent Todd Crosby led the case compared to Agent Jerry Jones. In an interview of 2022 with Jones, he said WGXA that the agency suspects the disappearance of mancilla.
On Saturday, September 5, 2020, Jesus and a friend had plans to travel to Savannah for a weekend trip. But according to his friend Ursula Lunce, hours passed without communication from Jesus. Later that evening, a suspicious car was reported in a forest area near Rowland Road in the Crawford County. This mysterious car turned out to be a black Chevy Tahoe 2015 Jesus.
In 2020, WGXA received the incident report from the Sheriff office of the Crawford County. It describes the SUV as “suspicious” and finds that the driver's window was put down halfway and nobody near the vehicle. A kind of surveillance camera was also found in the truck.
As soon as the vehicle of Jesus was discovered, the family officially submitted a report on missing person.
Five years later, the Mancilla family still prays that their pain becomes peace- whether it is in the form of an answer to what happened to Jesus or his return.
“The family that we are still waiting while we continue to wait for them,” said Arnuld Mancilla, the brother of Jesus, who is “the family, we are waiting for him … and we continue to be.”
