On Wednesday, August 23, a swimmer was reported missing from Walled Lake in Oakland County, Michigan. According to CBS, the missing person was on a boat with two other people when they reportedly disembarked to swim in the water. However, when a storm reached near the boat, the swimmer eventually disappeared.
According to CBS, the search for the missing swimmer was complicated by the extreme weather conditions in the area. However, several dive teams and officers from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are still busy searching.

As Fox reported, the missing man had left on a pontoon boat for a trip to Walled Lake. The man and his two friends all got off the boat and went for a swim. However, the victim’s friend returned to the boat when he saw a storm approaching. Also, amidst the chaos, they were separated from the missing person.
After the person was reported missing, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department coordinated multiple searches. Dive teams were seen in the Walled Lake area, but ultimately had to call off the search due to the storm.
On Thursday, August 24, they resumed efforts. Although several authorities were involved in the search, authorities found that they faced great difficulty due to poor visibility in the area. As the search is still in its early stages, officials have not yet released any further details. They have not released the missing man’s names or his friends.
Deaths in Walled Lake, Oakland County
Michigan authorities are concerned about the recent missing-persons case in Walled Lake, even though accidents and drownings are not uncommon in the state. Since the Great Lakes are located here, several tourists are drawn there every year. As of August 15, 2023, there have been 24 drownings in Lake Michigan alone. A total of 56 drowning deaths occurred in the Great Lakes that year.

In some cases, according to the website, people have hit their heads against rocks while diving, resulting in drowning.
