A government team on Tuesday presented a working draft of an interim proposal that would allow divorced parents to share custody of their children.
The draft, authored by the Legislative Council’s Family Law Subcommittee, which advises the Attorney General, gives Japan the option of either introducing a joint custody system or retaining the existing system of assigning custody to one parent.
