Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review Ratings™ displays ratings submitted by individuals who have either engaged or consulted with attorneys or law firms.
The customer review score is determined by aggregating validated responses. People who leave reviews are either people who have consulted with the attorney/law firm or who have engaged the attorney/law firm and wish to share their experience of that attorney or law firm with other potential clients. Auditors can be anyone who consults or retains an attorney, including in-house counsel, company directors, small business owners and individuals.
Martindale-Hubbell certifies that a reviewer is someone with a valid email address. As part of the verification process, respondents must confirm that they received an initial consultation, are or were currently a client of the identified attorney or law firm, although Martindale-Hubbell cannot confirm the attorney/client relationship, as is often the case in confidentiality. The content of the answers comes exclusively from reviewers.
Prior results do not guarantee a similar result and Martindale-Hubbell accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of any review. For more information on Martindale-Hubbell customer reviews, visit our customer reviews page
Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ have been the gold standard in attorney ratings for more than a century. These ratings identify attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a particular area of practice.
The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard because of its objectivity and completeness. The attorneys solicited for peer review include both those selected by the reviewed attorney and attorneys independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys who have practiced for at least three years and have received a sufficient number of ratings from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a rating.
What are the different Martindale Hubbell peer review ratings?*
• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating means that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rate him or her at the highest level of professional excellence based on their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
• Excellent: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating shows that the lawyer is widely respected by his peers for his high professional performance and ethical standards.
• Remarkable: This rating shows that the lawyer has been recognized by a large number of his peers for having strong ethical standards.
Lawyers who received peer reviews after 2009 will see more detailed information including practice areas, summary ratings, detailed numerical ratings and written feedback (if available). Details of individual reviews received prior to 2009 are not displayed.
Attorneys who receive reviews from peers, but not enough to generate a Martindale Hubbell peer review rating, will display those reviews on our websites.

Ratings and reviews are feedback from people who have either consulted an attorney about an issue (but may not have engaged the attorney) or are current or former clients who have engaged an attorney and submitted their feedback to our sister site Avvo.com.
