To counter gasoline smuggling, economic system minister orders tankers to be fitted with GPS monitoring units – LibyaHerald

In the country’s ongoing efforts to counter the smuggling of its subsidized fuel, Libyan Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed Hwej has issued a decision for public and private fuel transport companies to equip their vans with a GPS device.

The decision also stipulated that the tankers should be equipped with a meter showing the amount of fuel they carried.

Minister Hwej ordered the state-owned NOC subsidiary Brega Marketing Company, which is responsible for fuel import and distribution, not to load the vans before reviewing the conditions set out in the decision.
