Town courtroom decides within the upkeep case

Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court helped a Belarusian court enforce its verdict on a child support case, the intermediate court said on Friday.

In 2018 the foreign court ruled that a man from Turkey should pay money for his ex-wife and daughter. But he refused and later moved to Shanghai. In March, his ex-wife asked the Shanghai court to take action to enforce the sentence.

The court contacted him, but at first he couldn’t understand why a Chinese court was involved. It was stated that both countries had signed mutual legal aid agreements and that the Shanghai court had the right to take the case.

The man then said his ex-wife refused to let him visit his daughter and that he paid money through WeChat between April and October 2018. However, this was refused by the Belarusian court. The Shanghai court said it had no right to investigate any further.

After the court in Belarus confirmed various laws in detail with the court in Belarus, it asked the man’s company to deduct a certain amount from his salary every month.
