Tragedy as Mutoko couple commit suicide for infidelity

In a bizarre incident, a Mutoko couple committed suicide by hanging after misunderstanding about an extramarital affair.

The two are said to have got into a heated argument after husband Peter Muhamba (50) accused his wife Nyasha Chinake (44) of being with his cousin.

It is reported that Chinake left the house after the argument and never returned. The next day, her body was found hanging from a tree near her home.

According to sources, after hearing that his wife was dead, Muhumba went to her bedroom, took a rope, and hanged himself.

Mashonaland East province police spokesman, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, said around 4 p.m. Tuesday last week that Chanake was at home with her husband who accused her of having an extramarital affair with his cousin Matambanadzo Mhuru, 39.

Neighbors had to help locate them after Muhumba told them his wife had left and never returned. The next day, Mandaza Muhamba, 58, found the woman’s body hanging on a tree about a kilometer from her home.

She called the other villagers, including Peter Muhamba, to testify what she had seen.

The neighbors were returning home planning to file a police report when Muhamba went to his bedroom and hanged himself with a rope on the roof beam.

The matter was reported by the Makosa Police Station village chief who visited the scene, reports The Herald.
