On February 20, 2025, around 5.45 p.m., the New York State Police Office for Criminal Investigations in Canandaigua arrested 29-year-old Kimberly L. Sochia from Canandaigua, NY, due to murder in the second degree, indifference and around 10:00 a.m., 21-year-old Thomas G. Eaves, arrested in Geneva NY, with the same charges.

Both arrests are associated with the ongoing examination of the death of Sam Nordquist.

Sochia and Eaves were processed in SP Canandaigua and then referred back to the Ontario prison in the Ontario prison until there is a central charges.

The New York state police in Canandaigua, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies in connection with the disappearance and murder of Sam Nordquist at the age of 24, which originally come from Minnesota, have arrested and accused five people.

On February 9, 2025, the New York state police of SP Canandaigua initiated an investigation for missing person after having received a social examination from Nordquist's family. The investigators found that Nordquist in Patty's Lodge in Hopewell, NY, lives with precious Arzaga (38) and others.

After extensive investigative efforts, the law enforcement officers discovered that Nordquist was constantly exposed to physical abuse between December 2024 and February 2025. On February 13, 2025, human remains of Nordquists were discovered in a field by Payne Road in Yates County.

After consulting the district's public prosecutor's office in Ontario, the following people were arrested and charged with murder to the second degree – depraved indifference:

  • Precious Arzaga, 38, from Geneva, NY
  • Jenner A. Quijano, 30, from Geneva, the the
  • Kyle Sage, 33, from Hopewell, NY
  • Patrick A. Goodwin, 30, from Rochester, NY
  • Emily Motyk, 19, from Rochester, NY

In the Patty's Lodge and in other places connected to the case, the investigators carried out several search command pure purees. Notes, including electronic devices, clothing and personal effects, were secured for another forensic analysis. The investigation showed that the victim was exposed to persistent physical and psychological abuse before it was transported to Yates County, where the remains were disposed of.

The medical examiner's office in Monroe County will carry out an autopsy to confirm the cause and type of death. This is an active and ongoing examination. All five suspects were charged and referred back to the Ontario County prison.

The New York state police were supported by the Sheriff office of the Ontario County, the police department of the city of Geneva, the Coroner's Office of Yates County and the medical examiner's office in Monroe County for their support in this case.

The New York State Police, SP Canandaigua, actively examines the disappearance of Sam (Samantha) Nordquistwhich was last in contact with the family at the end of January 2025. Sam, originally from Minnesota, traveled to New York in September 2024 and has lost contact with relatives since then.
