In a shocking incident in the Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, a 60-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and two daughters with a hammer in their apartment because he suspected of having illegal relationships with outsiders, police said on Wednesday .
The terrible incident occurred in the Ambedkarnagar colony, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Shikarpur Police Station, the PTI news agency reported.
While the woman (50) and two daughters aged 20 and 15 lost their lives, his third daughter (18), who was also attacked, survived and was referred to Meerut District Hospital for medical treatment, police said.
According to the police, an FIR was registered following a complaint by the man’s 22-year-old son, who lives separately with his wife.
“The man suspected that his wife and daughters had illegal relationships with outsiders. He often fought at home. They also had an argument at home last night,” said SSP Singh.
“Some time after his wife and daughters fell asleep that night, the man hit them on the head with a hammer. The wife and two daughters died while the third was referred to Meerut for treatment,” police said.
The defendant is currently on the run and four police teams have been set up to find him, police said, adding that efforts are being made to ensure his early arrest.
