UPSRTC buses for GPS monitoring, panic buttons to extend the security of ladies in Lucknow and different districts
To improve women’s safety, the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways decided to equip their buses with GPS tracking systems and panic buttons. According to reports, around 11,750 buses, including both regular and AC buses, will receive this £ 15 million upgrade commissioned by the Nirbhaya Fund. The new rates will help expand the rapid rescue service in the event of accidents or other disasters.
UPSRTC takes precautions to ensure the safety of women
Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation’s buses will soon be upgraded using GPS trackers and much-needed panic buttons to keep women safe while commuting. Officials have said this button will connect the bus to UP 112, the State Police’s emergency number, which forwards the information to UPSRTC. The officers and interceptors on the streets can use this mechanism to accelerate the rapid response.
For further assistance, the GPS trackers monitor the exact location of the service and thus increase immediate on-site support. The officers also said that the control system from the control rooms will be used to monitor the buses around the clock throughout the journey.
The company’s board of directors endorses the project and has confirmed the installation proposal. The bids were published on May 28th and bids can be submitted until June 11th. The agency that won the offer can set up its own command center, connect to UP 112 and also operate the deployment. Previously, these provisions were made available in Pink Seva Buses, which were specifically used for women.
