(VIDEO) STF makes use of GPS monitoring to arrest the driving force who drove away with Rs. € 67 million

COLOMBO (news 1st); A driver employed to haul cash for private bank ATMs was arrested Monday (1) after escaping with over 67 million rupees in cash.

The STF said the driver was transporting money from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya with a team of security guards from a private security company to be deposited at the ATM.

However, the driver fled with the money in the van while officials deposited money at an ATM in Hatton Town.

A team of officers from Nuwara Eliya STF Camp then tracked the suspect using the bank’s GPS device installed in the van.

The investigation revealed that the driver was an army deserter.

The suspect and the van were handed over to the Keppetipola Police Station for further investigation.
