West Virginia officers discover suspected human stays two hours from the place the lacking lady was final seen

Officials in West Virginia on Thursday found what are believed to be human remains during a search for missing Gretchen Fleming.

Fleming, 28, was last seen in the early hours of December 4 at the My Way Lounge in Parkersburg, where she was walking with an unnamed man.

She was reported missing by her family on December 12.

About two hours outside of Parkersburg, where Fleming went missing, suspected human remains were found in Elm Grove, according to the WTOV.

Ohio County Sheriff Tom Howard told the FOX affiliate that officers were led to the suspected human remains Thursday after his office received a call from another department about a missing person.

Howard said the remains were taken to the Kepner Funeral Home, where a coroner will conduct an examination.

James Stalnaker, Lt. Parkersburg Police Department previously told Fox News Digital that the unnamed man was a person of interest.

“He is a person of interest in this investigation,” Stalnaker said. “We know she went with him. We believe she returned to his apartment with him. He has made conflicting statements.”

“By her own admission, she was once in his vehicle, but he claims she didn’t make it to his house,” he said. “There is no indication that they knew each other before that night.”

Stalnaker also said that Fleming left her purse in the bar, which contained her phone and debit and credit cards.

According to police, Fleming showed up at the bar with another person.
