“Why should he pay extra?” – Stephen A. Smith is angry about Kevin Costner’s $63,209 monthly support payment to his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner

In August 2023, Hollywood icon Kevin Costner was ordered by the court to pay $63,209 a month in alimony to his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner.

This decision follows a series of legal consultations and awards Kevin the amount he originally proposed.

The saga began back in July when Kevin was provisionally ordered to pay a staggering $129,755 in monthly support payments to Christine, the mother of her three children.

But just a month later, Christine attempted to increase that amount to an even larger $175,057, a significant increase of over $46,000.

During a court hearing, she later adjusted her request to $161,592, relying on the findings of a forensic accountant.

In response to Kevin’s divorce-related developments, NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith shared his thoughts on the topic in a recent episode of his YouTube podcast.

Smith questioned the need for Kevin Costner to pay additional child support to maintain his former spouse’s lifestyle, claiming:

“If Kevin Costner’s monthly child support allows the children to maintain the quality of life he once provided, why should he have to pay extra so that the woman he is no longer with can maintain her quality of life? Y’all aren’t together.”

Kevin and Christine Costner’s love story began in 1999 and five years later, in 2004, they tied the knot in Aspen, Colorado. Together they have three children: Cayden, Hayes and Grace.

However, their 18-year marriage ended when Christine filed for divorce from Kevin on May 1, 2023.

An official statement released Tuesday by Kevin Costner’s publicist Arnold Robinson brought some closure to this legal chapter.

It confirmed that Kevin and Christine Costner have reached an amicable and amicable solution to all issues related to their divorce proceedings.

This wasn’t Kevin Costner’s first experience with divorce; he was previously married to Cindy Silva. Their marriage produced two daughters, born in 1984 and 1986, and a son, born in 1988. Cindy Silva received a remarkable $80 million settlement.

After his divorce from Cindy Silva, he had a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney, with whom he had a son in 1996.
