- A 44-year-old woman has revealed exactly how she asked for a divorce
- The woman had been married for 14 years when she realized her husband was cheating on her
- She printed off his dating profile and left it on the bench for him to find
A woman has revealed how she ended her 14-year marriage by printing out her husband’s online dating profile and laying it out on the kitchen bench.
She scrawled “I want a divorce” on another piece of paper and waited for him to find it when he got home from work.
“I went to bed and later that night he came home and read it and went to bed right next to me. Like water off a duck’s back for him,’ she said to Mamamia.

The next day they sat down and admitted to themselves and each other that they had been unhappy for a long time.
“I wasn’t keen on a divorce at all but I knew my worth and by the time I found the dating site profile I was too far gone. It was emotional betrayal and physical betrayal, and I just had enough of it. I was heartbroken too,” she said.
At 44, the woman said she was “halfway into perimenopause” when their relationship ended, making it “pretty bad timing.”
The couple’s daughter was “11 or 12” and was devastated by the news, which also coincided with puberty and the emotional and physical changes of teenage years.
The wife revealed she “forgave” her husband for cheating two years into their marriage and couldn’t do it again.
“I had an inkling that he wasn’t faithful, as soon as I had proof I asked for a divorce.”

It wasn’t until years after the divorce that the now 50-year-old broke down and allowed herself to feel hurt and sad about the failure of their relationship.
She and her ex-husband only ever talked about their daughter and were not friends for a long time.
Then suddenly everything was fine. She said they both went to her daughter’s graduation and “got along great.”
“I think time can heal wounds and make things easier,” she said.
She said she has no intention of ever having a partner again, but has bought a dog, which her ex never allowed.
