Young Sheldon’s season five trailer teases George’s infidelity and the fulfillment of Sheldon’s story about his father’s affair from The Big Bang Theory.
A new Young Sheldon Season 5 promo teases George’s infidelity and thus the fulfillment of Sheldon’s tale of his father’s affair in The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon is an American sitcom and a spin-off from The Big Bang Theory that followed fan favorite Sheldon Cooper through his childhood. Set in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Young Sheldon follows Sheldon’s struggle to match up with his Texas peers and family while he is a child genius and attended high school at the age of 9.
The fact that Sheldon’s father, George, is going to have an affair was largely made known through Sheldon’s retelling in The Big Bang Theory. The sad story came to light in season 10 when Sheldon remembered coming home from school at the age of 13 and meeting his father with another woman. Meanwhile, Young Sheldon’s fourth season ended with Sheldon at the age of 11. With the spin-off trying to stay true to Sheldon’s stories and timeline from The Big Bang Theory, viewers know the infidelity is likely to pour into Young Sheldon soon. In fact, the season four finale of Young Sheldon briefly hinted at the affair and ended with a cliffhanger in which George was joined by the new single Brenda Sparks at the bar.
As reported by TVLine, the Young Sheldon season 5 promo teases what really happens between George and Brenda. The very short trailer seems to start right where Season 4 left off, with Brenda and George at the bar. Brenda suggests they “go somewhere else” and George shows interest in the idea. However, the interaction is interrupted by George’s heart problem and he ends up in the hospital again. The season promises to be very interesting when George’s wife Mary and Brenda show up at the hospital. Check out the trailer (via TV promos) below:

The promo doesn’t fully confirm that something is happening between George and Brenda, but it does suggest it. The two express mutual interest in each other and, as shown in season 4, meet at a critical time at the bar. At the end of season four, George is dissatisfied with his life and Brenda is freshly separated from her husband. Meanwhile, the latest Young Sheldon season 5 casting news revealed that Billy Sparks (Wyatt McClure) is becoming a regular on the show. The fact that Billy will appear more often also suggests that his mother Brenda could also play a bigger role in Season 5. Increased interactions between the Sparks and Coopers and a clear interest between George and Brenda effectively lay the foundation for an affair.
Overall, it remains to be seen whether Brenda is the woman in Sheldon’s story about his father’s affair. While Seasons 4 and 5 seem to create the opportunity for an affair, it could still simply be George’s actual fall of grace. Even if his interactions with Brenda didn’t turn out to be an affair, the fact that there was interest and consideration could make him more susceptible to moving on in the future. It doesn’t matter if Brenda is the mistress or not Young SheldonThe season 4 cliffhanger and season 5 promo mark the beginning of the breakdown in George’s marriage. It will matter when season 5 covers George’s affair, as it may well set season 6 on the next big event in Sheldon’s childhood – George’s death.
