The authorities hope that a reward incentive could lead to information about a missing person case.
Sheriff Nick Weems announced this week that $ 10,000 would be offered for information leading to an arrest or the whereabouts of Roseanna Zadakaus, 77, who has been missing since March 31, 2021, after she was last at her residence was seen on Cypress Creek Road.
Some evidence gathered at the woman’s home suggests forced entry and possible foul play, but so far, clues have not proved fruitful in determining what happened.
High tides near the residence led investigators to believe that Zadakaus might have accidentally drowned, but weeks of searching a wide area – from Cypress Creek to Lady’s Bluff, in the backwater and the main Tennessee River channel – yielded no answers.
Zadakaus was last seen by her garbage collector this Wednesday afternoon around 1 p.m. He told the authorities that she was wearing a rain jacket and rubber boots. These items of clothing were found in the apartment and her empty trash can was recovered. Their vehicles were still parked at the house.
Neighbors who hadn’t seen Zadakaus for a few days, called her, but couldn’t reach her by phone. A neighbor who went to her house to check on her found the screen door on the porch unlocked, and when he knocked on her front door, it opened by itself.
Underwater and overhead drones were used in the search, divers volunteered, blood dogs and corpse dogs were used, the THP helicopter flew the area several times, and even sonar technology was used.
Areas inaccessible by boat or typical vehicle were accessed by an amphibious unit from the Perry County Rescue Squad.
Sheriff Weems has asked anyone with any information to call his office at 931-589-8803.
