A 10-YEAR-OLD Zvishavane youth is fighting for his life at Gweru Provincial Hospital after a man who suspected the boy’s father was bedding his wife attacked him with a machete.
Police in the Midlands province are now on the hunt for a certain Pilate Ruvengo, 40, who assaulted and attacked the youth with a machete, claiming his father was dating his wife.
According to Midlands Provincial Police spokesman Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident happened around 6:30am on October 19, when the toddler was on his way to school.
“We have received a report of an attempted murder in which a 10-year-old boy from Gonakudzingwa village under Chief Mazviwha in Zvishavane was severely attacked all over his body by a 40-year-old man with a machete over charges of his father’s infidelity became. ‘ said Inspector Mahoko.
He said the boy was on his way to school when Ruvengo attacked.
“The young man endured this horrific ordeal while walking to school accompanied by his friends. The suspect is still at large while the injured minor has been taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he is being treated. The investigation is still ongoing,” he told police.
