Ludhiana: Sahnewal Police have charged a woman and her acquaintances with assaulting her 35-year-old husband, who is a soldier, and his relatives.
The alleged incident occurred on Friday in Sahnewal.
Amandeep Kaur from Partap Singh Wala and Havildar Harmanjit Singh from Jogi Majra village, who married in 2010, had recently developed strained relationships, with the latter suspecting them of infidelity. As a result, they lived separately.
In his complaint, Harmanjit claimed that on Saturday he visited his sister Manjit Kaur in Sahnewal village in Nandpur. When he returned home, Amandeep, her relative Ram Sarup and others had intercepted Harmanjit’s path and attacked him, his brother-in-law Harpreet Singh and his nephew Gagandeep Singh with sticks and edged weapons. The accused fled the place.
Harmanjit then took himself and his relatives to Jalandhar Military Hospital for treatment and lodged a complaint with the police.
ASI Gurmeet Singh, Investigator at Sahnewal Police Station, said a case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing injury), 324 (voluntarily causing injury by dangerous weapon or means), 326 (voluntarily causing serious injury by dangerous weapon or means), 341 (Unlawful Restraint), 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 148 (Rebellion, Armed with Deadly Weapons) and 149 (Any member of an unlawful assembly guilty of an offense in pursuit of a common goal) of the Indian Penal Code have been violated the accused registered at the Sahnewal Police Station. The accused are on the run and will soon be arrested, he added.
