As the brutal Shraddha Walkar murder case takes the spotlight in Delhi, the gruesome killing of a woman allegedly by her boyfriend for “infidelity” in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district has shocked people, but the accused remains dead for almost a week after posting a chilling video has been at large on social media of her lying dead at a resort here.

The video shows the man posing as Abhijeet Patidar saying “Bewafai nahi karne ka” (don’t be unfaithful) in the recreation room while the woman lies in a pool of blood on the bed.

The woman, identified as Shilpa Jharia, 22, was a Kundam area resident in Jabalpur district and was found dead at the resort on November 8, a police official said Wednesday.

In the video released last Friday, the defendant can be seen showing the face of the deceased lying on the bed by lifting the bed sheet and telling her not to “betray” him, he said.

In another video, Patidar, a resident of Patan city in Jabalpur who claims to be in the oil and sugar business, is heard admitting that he killed the woman.

PTI could not independently verify the authenticity of the videos.

“Police personnel have been dispatched to different locations to look for the man accused of killing his 22-year-old girlfriend, who was found dead at a resort in Jabalpur,” said Siddharth Bahuguna, Superintendent of Police (SP).

Police are in the process of gathering details of the accused and the filings received so far are being closely scrutinized, the IPS official said.

Clues from the videos posted by the defendant on the social media platform are being analyzed, the SP said.

The defendant, originally from Gujarat, used the deceased’s Instagram account to upload the first video, said Tilwara Police Station chief Laxman Singh Jharia.

The defendant’s whereabouts have been determined and a team of police officers have been dispatched to arrest him, he added.
