Bills aimed at legalizing divorce, punishing spousal infidelity and protecting seafarers are among 10 priority measures tabled by Senator Raffy Tulfo, a freshman.

The broadcaster-turned-politician revealed the list of its pet bills at the 19th Congress on Thursday. First on his list is the proposed Wage Theft Act, which aims to penalize employers who fail to pay their employees’ wages and benefits.

The first-time senator, who is set to chair the Senate committees on energy and the new committee on migrant workers, also introduced the bill to extend the statute of limitations on labor claims and the proposed poor jobseeker rebate bill.

Aside from divorce and spousal infidelity laws, Tulfo also filed the Anti-Domestic Violence Act of 2022, which aims to protect individuals from mistreatment and abuse, regardless of gender.

Also included in its top 10 bills of the 19th Congress are the proposed Judiciary Modernization Act of 2022, the Act to Redefine Illicit Soliciting Committed by a Syndicate, and the Act to Eliminate the Public Offering of Electricity Companies Act.—LDF, GMA News
