Guwahati: There was a stir at the busy Chandmari flyover in Guwahati today (Wednesday) after a woman attempted to jump off the railing in what appeared to be a suicidal bid. However, a group of good Samaritans, which included a few journalists who were present, reacted quickly enough and prevented the young woman from taking the drastic measure.

The woman later accused her husband – who drives police vehicles at Chandmari Police Station – of domestic violence and also accused him of having an extramarital relationship with another woman.

Complete chaos and confusion reigned at the scene as people watched in horror as the woman attempted to jump off the overpass.

“It was indeed very frightening to see the woman attempt to jump off the overpass after climbing onto the chest-high railing. If people hadn’t reacted quickly enough, she would have fallen,” an eyewitness who crossed the overpass told News Live.

The woman was later handed over to the police.
