Under the magnifying glass. After many public ups and downs, that’s no surprise Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson‘s relationship will continue to be a major topic of discussion on Hulu’s reality series The Kardashians.
“Right now, Tristan and I are just friends. I love the relationship he and I have, but my biggest focus is being a mom to my beautiful angel True,” said Khloé, 37, during the debut episode of The Kardashians, which aired Thursday, March 14.
Noting that Tristan, 31, had other plans, the Good American co-founder added, “I know if Tristan had his way, we’d be totally together. I just need some air to breathe and time to think.”
Fans originally watched Khloé’s ups and downs play out with the athlete on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The former couple were first linked in September 2016 and welcomed their daughter less than two years later.
Days before Khloé’s birth, the former Boston Celtics player was accused of cheating with several women. The couple stayed together at the time. They later pulled the plug on their romance after Tristan kissed KylieJenners former best friend Jordan Woods in 2019.
The on-and-off duo rekindled their romance in August 2020 after spending time together amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Less than a year later, however, Us confirmed that they’ve called it quits again.
During the premiere of the Hulu series, Khloé admitted that she has “a lot of reservations and guards” when it comes to Tristan because of her past. “Tristan is very determined that we get back together,” she shared. “He goes to therapy quite often – a few times a week. We even do couples therapy together now. I say couples, but it’s really his therapy I’m supposed to be in.”
While filming the first season of The Kardashians, the NBA player’s personal life made headlines again when it was revealed that he was being sued for child support Maralee Nichols. In Tristan’s response in court, he admitted he hooked up with the fitness model in March 2021 – while he was still dating Khloé.
In January 2022, the Canadian native publicly acknowledged the child’s paternity a month after Theo’s birth. He is also the father of a 5-year-old son with ex Jordan Craig.
Following the drama, Khloé confirmed that viewers will see the on-screen events.
“It’s addressed on the show,” the Revenge Body host told Variety last month. “We try as a family to protect the privacy of our partners or significant others as they haven’t actually signed up for it; We made. But if something like that was really public, it would be weird if Tristan was part of the show and then suddenly disappears and we never talk about it.

She added: “I always try to be as respectful as possible but it’s a reality. But it won’t be a protracted situation. I think people are probably getting a little tired of it.”
A month later, the KUWTK alum opened up Where the Exes Stand Now. “I still think he’s a great guy and he’s a great father. He’s just not the type for me,” Khloé said RobinRoberts during an April 6 interview. “I think at the end of the day we all strive for happiness. We want to feel happy. We want to feel safe.”
