Queen understood Philip’s “want for freedom” amid infidelity rumours

Queen Elizabeth II understood her husband Prince Philip’s “need for freedom” as the famous Netflix series “The Crown” showed Philip in a close relationship with Penny Knatchbull.

The expert claims that despite the rumours, Queen was “madly in love” with her significant other.

dr Tessa Dunlop, author of Elizabeth and Philip: A Story of Young Love, Marriage and Monarchy, told OK! Magazine: “I think Philip loved Elizabeth. I never doubted that. She changed his life.

“She gave him stability he never had, she gave him wealth he never had.

“She gave him a platform he could not have dreamed of. She gave him everything he didn’t have,” she added.

dr Dunlop continued: “I think the Queen understood Philip’s need for freedom. She asked a lot of an alpha male to get behind her and support her. to give up his name. to give up his home.”

The historian also addressed the King’s infidelities, noting: “I think the Queen absolutely understood that Prince Philip should be walking the tightrope and she has eased it off a bit.

“What that means about his behavior towards women I don’t know. He didn’t want us to know and the Queen didn’t want us to know and seemed fine with what happened.”
