Queen ‘understood Philip’s want for freedom’ as The Crown particulars his alleged infidelity | Royal | information

The Queen understood her husband’s “need for freedom” while giving him “stability and wealth” he never had, according to one royal biographer. In the fifth series of the Netflix hit The Crown, Prince Philip is seen maintaining a close relationship with Penny Knatchbull despite their 32-year age difference.

The historian Dr. However, Tessa Dunlop, author of Elizabeth and Philip: A Story of Young Love, Marriage and Monarchy, believes the Queen was “infatuated” with Philip and always “tolerant” of his behavior.

dr Dunlop said OK! Magazine: “I think Philip loved Elizabeth. I never doubted that. She changed his life.

“She gave him stability he never had, she gave him wealth he never had.

“She gave him a platform he could not have dreamed of. She gave him everything he didn’t have.”

By marrying the Queen and taking on the role of royal consort, the Duke of Edinburgh must relinquish his claims to the Greek and Danish thrones.

He was the son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenburg, but was forced to flee with this family when the Greek royal family was overthrown.

dr Dunlop continued: “I think the Queen understood Philip’s need for freedom.

Netflix has reportedly filmed “intimate scenes” between the Prince and Mrs Knatchbull, Countess Moutbatten of Windsor.

Although the exact level of intimacy in their relationship is unknown, she was his “closest confidante” and was one of 30 guests who attended his socially distanced funeral.

dr Dunlop said: “The conclusion is that he wasn’t sexually faithful – that’s what people concluded.

“But whether it was him or not, the Queen and he clearly had a loving and enduring marriage and partnership that she relied on and he relied on.” They were both dependent on each other.”
