Singaporeans dream of infidelity greater than different international locations, based on new analysis
While other countries’ most common dreams are about dogs, falling teeth or pregnancy, new research shows that Singapore’s most common dream is about infidelity.
With World Sleep Day (March 18) fast approaching, luxury linen retailer Secret Linen Store is conducting a Google data study to find out what people around the world are looking for when it comes to the meaning of their dreams.
“Since dreams are often our worries or deepest thoughts, a few eventful years have clearly resulted in the mind being more active during sleep, leading people to turn to Google to find out the meaning behind their dreams,” said Alessandra from digital marketing agency Propellernet who shared the findings.
According to a study by Secret Linen Store, people around the world dream most about dogs.

In the UK, the most common dreams are about being pregnant, while in Brazil it’s mice. Dogs followed by snakes are among the dreams of people in Asia.

However, the results for Singapore are slightly different as Google users search for answers to their marriage dreams.

Secret Linen Store also gave meanings to the dreams, with cheating suggesting several possible reasons depending on who is involved in the plot.
“For example, cheating with a co-worker doesn’t mean you want to follow things in reality, but rather that you admire a quality about them,” Secret Linen Store said.
“It could also stir up feelings about past infidelities that you’re still trying to process. If you still harbor insecurities about a previous relationship or even yourself, it may show in the form of something like you or a partner cheating in your dreams.”
“Dreams are often our worries or deepest thoughts coming up, so they shouldn’t always be taken literally, as that’s often how your body processes complex emotions,” he added.
The company used Google Keyword Planner to analyze global search data for 185 countries across 390 different shared dreams.
“As the past few years have felt more like nightmares than a serene backdrop for a restful night’s sleep, we were curious how this might have impacted what we dream of around the world,” said Secret Linen Store co- Founder Molly Freshwater.
“It’s interesting to see that dreams actually vary based on where you live, but it’s also reassuring to know that if you’re dreaming about snakes or ex-partners, you’re not alone.” /TISG
