  • “You think it would frustrate Tisha more than me, right?” he added.

This season, Love & Marriage: Huntsville viewers watched as Marsau Scott danced around questions from his wife LaTisha and mother-in-law about his alleged infidelity. Creator Carlos King told Insiders why he doesn’t force him or other cast members to answer questions about infidelity directly.

“You would think it would frustrate Tisha more than me, right? So my DNA follows reality, and to me, we document what real couples go through, and not all marriages work the same way,” he began. “So the fact that Marsau is allowed to dance around the question in his marriage is very interesting.”

King continued that the goal of Love & Marriage: Huntsville, which follows four couples who lead relationships and friendships in Huntsville, Alabama, is for viewers to observe the couples and their families — and not a false narrative created by the producers.

“I don’t delve into the narrative that much because that’s the mistake a producer can make when they don’t follow reality,” added the executive producer. “So imagine if I said, ‘No, you have to answer the question.’ It wouldn’t be as interesting as seeing him not respond and I think that’s super fascinating to watch.”

Marsau, who maintains his innocence, has been accused of infidelity by other cast members since the first season of “Huntsville.”

Marsau has been plagued by infidelity rumors since the series began, with costar and boyfriend Martell Holt even being accused of having “20 girlfriends”.

During the second episode of that season, Marsau was questioned by Tisha’s mother, Miss Wanda, about rumors that he and Holt once shared an apartment where they would entertain other women. Although Marsau answered, he didn’t answer the question directly as his wife looked on in embarrassment. Instead, he replied, “If you don’t know me now, you will never know me.”

Marsau later asked his mother-in-law why it was a “concern for you,” and later denied hanging out “one on one” with Holt, but never specifically addressed the apartment.

King told Insider that viewers will see more allegations about Marsau’s alleged extramarital activities throughout the season.

“You will see very in-depth conversations that Marsau and Tisha have about the state of their marriage,” he said, “courtesy of alleged images revealed from blogs and whether Marsau is back.” [in the photo or] It is not?”

“I’ve never seen such a level of depth in Marsau,” added King.

King also said he didn’t let the Scotts off the hook during last season’s reunion

King also revealed why he couldn’t get straight answers about the Scotts’ marriage while hosting the show’s season 3 reunion last year. Viewers took to social media to complain that King doesn’t seem to blame the Scotts for problems in their marriage or problems with their business, the Blaque Cigar Lounge.

“We did a director’s cut of the three-part reunion. And in that director’s cut, you saw the Scotts arrive on set over an hour late and that delayed everything,” explained King. “Tisha had a cloakroom malfunction; that delayed us for another hour.”

“Long story short, we didn’t have that much time to cover everything. And one of the things where we had to make the difficult decision was that we couldn’t come to Marsau and Tisha’s wedding,” he added. “I was so mad about it.”

Still, King is optimistic he’ll be able to give viewers what they want next time he sits in the reunion chair.

“Hey, we’re having a reunion, so I have more questions to ask,” he quipped.

OWN’s Love & Marriage: Huntsville airs Saturday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
