Jajpur: In a case similar to that of Ganjam’s tapaswini and sumit, another woman protested in front of her husband’s shop in the Jajpur district of Odisha, demanding maintenance. The incident took place in the Jarka Bazar in the Dharmasala Block of Jajpur District.
According to reports, Dolly Smita Sahu, the daughter of the late Rahas Bihari Sahu from the village of Malada under Bainsiria panchayat under the Bari Bloc, married Arabinda Sahu from Neulapur on March 12, 2020 under the borders of Dharmasala police, according to Hindu rituals. The marriage had been arranged at Gokarneswar Temple in the Jarka area.
But after four months of marriage, family unrest broke out between the two and accordingly the woman has lived with her father with her mother since then.
The woman has reportedly applied for child support but her husband has yet to do so. There are also reports that the matter is pending before the Court of Justice.
When the woman received the information that her husband wanted to get married somewhere else, she visited Jaraka Bazar today and sat with her mother on dharna in front of her husband’s cloth shop. She said that she will continue the protest until justice is obtained.
After receiving information, the police from Dharmasala Police Station reached the site, spoke to the woman, and took her to the police station. She has reportedly filed a written complaint, based on which the police are investigating the matter.
On the other hand, Arabinda’s older brother, who is said to be the shopkeeper, has complained against Dolly. He has complained that while the marital dispute case is pending, the woman is sitting on dharna in front of the store and scolding.
