An FCT family court has ordered Chief Fani Kayode’s wife, Precious Chikwendu, to make comments that could advance the identification of the children whose custody issues are currently being tried in court.
Presiding Judge Njideka Duru issued the order following an ex-parte motion that moved Adeola Adedipe’s attorney in that direction. The judge then issued the injunction prohibiting Chikwendu from “publishing name, address, school, photos, or making comments, presenting speeches or documents, whether at a public meeting or during a program billed as ‘Green Shift’ ( Apostolic Round) is designated Tables) scheduled for February 24″.
It also issued the order barring the ex-wife from “commenting on any social media platform about information that could lead to the identification of any of the children whose custody issues have been brought before this court for decision pending a decision on the application.” upon notification has been taken of precautionary measure”.
Adedipe sought four orders from the court, including “an order granting the applicant permission to practice in this case to change original proceedings filed .
The attorney also sought an order providing for a closed hearing, conducting any or all proceedings in this case in the best interests of the children involved; respect their respective rights to dignity and privacy.
He also asked the court for an injunction preventing Chikwendu or his associates from appearing at public meetings or social media platforms of the broken relationship.
Recall that Chikwendu, a former beauty queen, appeared before Federal High Court (FHC) Judge Inyang Ekwo in Abuja on February 14 for the attempted murder of her ex-husband Fani-Kayode.
Despite pleading not guilty and having filed charges number FHCABJ/CR/1/2022 with the Police Commissioner against her and three others, the ex-wife reportedly attempted to stab Fani-Kayode with a kitchen knife on November 24, 2018, in Asokoro , within the jurisdiction of the court.
Prosecutor John Ijagbemi had also told reporters that the complaint intended to change the charge to that the former minister, who was available to police, had attempted to kill her four children.
Chikwendu, who was accused of infidelity, is also said to have dropped several civil lawsuits against Fani-Kayode. Although the duo had parted ways, the former minister said Chikwendu was always given access to his children under strict supervision because of his alleged mental health issues, which could lead to children being harmed.
