Pros and Cons: The Role of Counselors in Custody Disputes

We are all aware of the growing number of advisors helping individuals, couples and attorneys make a custody decision. Unfortunately, some counselors do not understand how single parenthood works, what shared custody plans are, and how important a degree of cooperation is to the overall well-being of their children.

Can a parent “look better” with the help of a counselor? Surely. Test results, interviews, and collateral contacts can be designed to present a much better picture than a parent or third party would otherwise present to a court or jury.
